The Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC) Working Group of Council is a task force convened by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) at the request of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to review evidence on feeding practices and NEC in preterm infants. The NICHD is a health research agency within the federal government that supports and conducts research related to pregnancy, child development, reproductive health, and disabilities.
